Holy Thursday
"Stay with me, remain here with me.
Watch and pray. Watch and pray"
We have sung this Taize chant at Holy Thursday service for several years now, during the procession marking Jesus' walk to the garden. We sing it on our knees, as the Priest carries the Blessed Sacrament to a special place, set aside for veneration and adoration. I sing it on my knees, trying to walk with Jesus, trying not to one of the disciples who falls asleep.. I sing it on my knees, trying to walk in prayer.
I missed service tonight. It was a late start (8:00) and would be long and crowded. I regret not being there, to sing on my knees in service this year.
Rather, tonight as we got John ready for bed, after bath, I dried John's feet carefully and started to chant. Big Daddy and I chanted together "Stay with me..." John said "AGAIN!" and we chanted some more. John even joined in a bit with some of the words. It was our own prayer, our own walk, a special moment.
