One Of Three and Counting

Thank you God...

When starting night-time prayers, we normally begin with giving thank for the good things in our day. We have a song that the three of us sing (we made it up so bear with us). It goes something like this...

Thank you God.
Thank you God.
Thank you God for a beautiful day.

Following this opening stanza, 'a beautiful day' is replaced by whatever we feel we are thankful for. Oftentimes we add a small line about why the are thankful. Couting_blessings, lil'daddy and I all contribute and this is a great time for us to see how lil'daddy composes his own heartfelt prayers. Granted, we get thank yous for the fax machine and printer and some thank yous that repeat several times before were done.

A couple of nights ago, we thought it was odd that lil'daddy thanked God for noses. Then he started to repeat it...

Thank you God.
Thank you God.
Thank you God for ou-r noses, ...so Jesus can get-in.

...Thank you God for ou-r mouths, ...so Jesus can come-out.

...Thank you God for ou-r hearts, ...for Jesus to be in.

I guess we have to let Him in somewhere?
Thank you God. Thank you God. Thank You God for a beautiful boy!

Flying By...

That is what the time is doing! Several times since the last post Counting_Blessings and I have witnessed moments where John has said things that were completely brilliant or profound and before we can come to post it (if only so we could come back and reminisce some time in the future) our recollection of the details get fuzzy. For instance, there was a conversation in the car where John was commenting about how the skin of different people are different colors but we are all the same. In another conversation with Counting_Blessings, John remarked that 'if he goes out in the sun his skin would be tan like Dora' where the emphasis was on the different or changing skin tones. The kicker was when in closing he says something along the lines of, 'but we all wear pants the same though'.

I'm sure the effective recording of all the nuance and detail that was lost would make for a better story and more effectively relate our wonderment as to how brilliant and profoundly insightful it seems our 3 year-old can be at times. By the way, these moments of philosophical genius almost never correlate with the moments when he's picking his nose or shoving his hands down the back of his pull-ups to check the source of his 'bunchiness'. ...hmm...I've digressed... The point of today's post is to start off a number of mini-posts where I try to tell myself that I'm not commiting to writing a whole lot but rather just trying to record some of the details of life with lil'daddy before they're lost.

Soon I hope to post about our recent trips to the pool (with picts).

The boy and I are also working on a music video that I hope we can get to post in the near future.

Unrelated to the video but inline with his love for music, lil'daddy has moved from Guitar Hero to SingStar. He has taken his guitar kick and a few other Guitar Hero moves and brought them with him. He has also added the following Blue Man Group rock concert movements: The Basic Head Bob, The One Armed Fist Pump and The Up & Down Jumping Motion (from the Blue Man album The Complex). He has added a few of his own so that in total there are roughly 13 current and approved rock concert movements.

The impetus to start this post was actually to record and share (in a mini-post) his latest greatest profound moment. Tonight, before bed, lil'daddy told us that he didn't have a soul inside him. He also said that we could not see a soul. He said it was like this..., and he pulled up his bed covers to hide under. He told us without a doubt that we had a soul inside of us as he pointed to our chests. "Not in me though", he said pointing his thumb to his chest, "I only have Jesus in me." Shortly after though, he recanted and conceded that he did, in fact, have a soul as well. Of course all the details are a little fuzzy now, not because I waited too long to post, but rather because it's about 1:30am.
