Lil Bro at 8 weeks

A snapshot of our little guy as he approaches 8 weeks:

~ He is now 14 lbs 4 oz and 25 inches, a gain of three lbs over the last month, five+ lbs since birth.

~ Loves bath time. We've made bath time part of our nightly ritual. Still using the infant bathtub, stacked in the kitchen sink. He loves splishing & splashing!!

~ Starting to vocalize. His newborn baby grunts are being supplemented and replaced by ahhs & ohhs. He forms his mouth into an "o", moves his tongue around and has a baby conversation with us.

~ Visually tracks objects, though not yet showing excitement with seeing objects. Shows excitement when seeing faces, especially Daddy, Mommy & Big Bro.

~ Can hold his head up (in a sitting position) for a minute or so if we are holding his torso.

~ Starting to hold his head up during tummy time also.

~ Nicknames include "miles of smiles", "miles of sad faces" and "miles of worried faces", all depending on his mood. Big Bro of course calls him Lil Bro. I also call him a whole assortment of names like sweetie pie, sugar plum, scoobie doo and whatever comes to mind at the moment.

~ Two nights in a row of sleeping 10 pm to 7 am -- this warrants its own post! This follows a steady pattern of sleeping 10 pm to 5 or 6 am.. Alleluia!!

~ Still wearing some 0-3m, but mostly 3-6m now.

~ Still nursing every 2-3 hours during the day.

~ We try to have baby playtime with Big Bro & Lil Bro every night. Lil Bro has an hour of being awake and alert around 7 pm, so we use this time to all sit down on the floor in Lil Bro's room. Big Bro is the master of ceremonies, bringing out baby toys to show Lil Bro and reads him story after story. Our current favorite is a book of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes. Big Bro loves reading these to Lil Bro and he laughes at them time and time again. Tummy time follows story time and we're then all ready for a drink and a snack before moving on to bath time rituals. (And I'm really ready for sleep after all that!).
