Running Around D.C. '08 (vid & pics)

One might recognize the Washington Monument in the background...

Lil'daddy loves to play Wii when visiting his pop-pop. Recently, he loves playing "Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games". Notice the block start at the beginning of the video, the slow motion finish as he crosses the finishline (about 10s into the video), and the following victory dance! After that I'm not sure what events he's doing???

Sightseeing the National Mall was fun! Lil'bro was fine as long as he had a timely bottle, a dry diaper and not too much sun in his eyes. I felt a little bad for Lil'daddy at the Air and Space Museum because he wanted to see the Skylab exhibit and walk through one of the airplane displays and these exhibit/displays were not so stroller friendly. We did get to see the White house, The National Aquarium, The National Museum of Natural History, The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, The National Air and Space Museum, The National Gallery of Art and of course the Washington Monument. From the National Mall we were able to see the Capitol Building and the Lincoln Memorial. There's more that I would've liked for us to see but I'm happy with what we were able to cover in 2 days!

Lil'daddy was great as far as wanting to see so many attractions. He and I wanted to do a double decker bus tour on our second day but the buses we saw had standing room only! That was not going to happen with two kiddos and a stroller! It was bad enough that our Metrorail return trip to the hotel the previous afternoon was standing room only during rush hour. (On that second day we caught a later, non-rush hour, train!)

While exhausting (did I mention that we drove to D.C.), I think the trip was a success. Lil'daddy's favorite attraction was a toss-up between the Museum of Natural History and the Air & Space museum. -a slight edge probably to the Museum of Natural History because of the Ben Stiller movie "Night at the Museum". If you're familiar with the movie..., lil'daddy wanted to "throw the bone" and "lock up the lions". I think a trip to the NYC Museum of Natural History will be soon to follow. -side note- a good thing about the D.C. museums is that most have free admission. I don't think that'll be the case when we visit some of the NYC museums.

Here are some other random pics from our trip...

Oh- in that last picture, lil'daddy is not taking a nap in front of the white house...

...he is actually protesting the taking of his picture! I guess, I can say my 4 y/o has led a sit-in at the front gate of the White House. I guess he was successful... I never did get a good picture the whole trip!
