Counting Blessings posting under Big Daddy's ID...
I'm baking cookies this morning and left the bottom sections of the cookie pouches for Big Bro to cut out box tops. The section included the part of the cookie pouch that said makes 3 dozen cookies.
Big Bro tells me - this makes thirty six cookies. I was curious is he was doing multiplication in his head or long addition, so I asked him to tell me how he figured that out. His reply, I thought it was very interesting how he broke it into smaller parts that he could easily handle for mental addition.
"A dozen is twelve.
So twelve, then twenty-two, then thirty-two, then thirty-four, then thirty-six. So thirty-six."
