Gone picking apples... it is that time (pics)

I like going to this place in Columbia County. It's a drive for us but this is the place my Grandfather used to take our family before we all started to complain how far away it was!

As you can see, we are nowhere near peak foilage yet.

We already have a full bushel of apples, and we'll probably go back during peak foilage. We also have plans to go to a different place this Saturday with the boy's preschool and some friends.

Apple pie, Coccoa apple bunt cake, sliced apples with Peanut butter, Apple walnut pinwheel cookies... hmmm
someone suggested apples and chicken livers??? -...hmmm, maybe a chicken breast / apple bake, though...

These are pics from last year.

Awfully...

My son has taken to using the word "awfully", in the mode of Christopher Robin & Winnie the Pooh. (Disclaimer: he rarely watches Pooh)

Some examples:

"I'd awfully like a cookie now".

"We awfully should go to the park".

"That would be awfully nice of you Daddy".

I can't pinpoint the word he intends to use: Is it "really"? Is it just to for emphasis? Either way, it is rather funny to hear my 3 1/2 year old have this word in his vocabulary. What a silly-old-boy he is!

First week of Preschool

John started preschool this past week. Three half days, just enough to introduce him to the structure and social situation. Both Big Daddy and I dropped him off the first day. I thought I would be the strong one. Any mom or dad that has been through this already is laughing I'm sure, I cried of course. I cried in the car to the school, I cried in the classroom as we left. I cried as we drove away. My little boy, growing up, being on his own, in a totally new situation where neither Big Daddy nor I would know 100% of what he was experiencing.

John, of course, had a great time.

He had stories each day of the letters that his teacher put on the board, the birthday cupcakes that had for snack one day, the boys he played with in the school playground. He brought home his work in his bookbag and proudly showed us the letter "a" he colored in and his new workbook.

I'm sure we'll have many more stories now that John has entered this new realm. For now, I'm glad it's Saturday and I have my little boy all to myself today.
