Differing views of marriage

One of my friends has been heard to offhandly comment that a (particular) marriage won't last a year. I hope that person is wrong. I'm not an idealistic romantic, I'm actually becoming quite cynical these days. But I believe in marriage. I believe in the institution and that two people can make a live-long commitment to each other. I believe that God blesses that union and will give the couple the Grace and strength to bear the Crosses that come in marriage and shine its Glory as well. I believe in Love. And yes, I believe in all of this for any commitment couples that dedicates to it, regardless of sexuality.

I hope that person is wrong. I think it will last.

I hope it lasts, too. An older friend of mine told me that she and her husband used to try to predict which of their friends' marriages would last--and they concluded there was no good way to know. Some seemingly happy couples didn't last, and some that were faltering managed to pull through.
