Missing Mommy :)

Counting_Blessings is away on business for a couple days. Both Big Daddy and lil'daddy are missing her. Her last trip was a month ago but it feels longer than that. I figured I'd give her a wave from our blog and update with some photos. (btw re. photos... I just dowloaded 99 pics off our camera most of which are birthday pics! I'll post them later.)

John ate 10 shrimp at dinner today along with heaps of green beans, corn, carrots and peas! I had some chicken soup backup in case he didn't like the shrimp but we didn't need it. He also had 3/4 of an apple, 3/4 of a pear and five or six strawberries! Add in about 8 oz of iced tea and a daddy handful of unsalted pretzels and I can't figure where he put it all!

Yesterday saw a poo poo and a pee pee in the toilet but today only saw a pee pee. John wanted to sit on his new potty/toilet seat about 5 times today. A couple times we just missed the poo poo. I can't believe how much he's taken to the new seat! I also can't believe I've used either pee pee or poo poo six times in one paragraph! :) I'm trying not to get too excited over the whole thing and at the same time not too overwhelmed at how this will change our outings!

I wanted to post a pic and try to post a video. These are of our boy in the bath tonight...

"No John go to bed"

John turns two in a week. Is this when the "terrible twos" start?

The last two weeks have been a huge step backwards with John's sleep habits. We're phasing out bottles, leaving only one at bedtime. No more bottle before nap. I think John is protesting -- ie.. no bottle, no nap !! He cries for much longer than usual before finally going down for his nap. And bedtime? He cried for over 60 minutes the other night !!! I went in to check on him, he was screaming, pleading, begging to get out of his crib. He wanted to go to the couch, to mommy & daddy's bed, anywhere but his crib.

He continued to wail. I held him briefly to calm him down. Our conversation went like this:

John: No John go to bed.

Me: Yes John, it'd bedtime. Mommy is going to count to ten and then you go back in your bed.

John: thinking, trying to find a way out of the pending situation....

John: No John, go to bed * lightbulb* John, go to CHURCH!

He then took my face in his hands and looked at me very seriously --

John: John go church. John PRAY.

I can only imagine what he wanted to pray for. I guess he could think of better bargaining chips to try to get out of bed.

I counted to ten, put him back down and listened to him cry for about 10 more minutes...

I hope this gets easier.

Happy Mommy's Day!

A big happy Mommy's Day to all.

John gave me my first "macaroni" card for Mommy's Day. He and Daddy made it during a prior week Gymboree session - blue construction paper with colored macaroni glued to the front with other decorations. The inside says " I Love You Mommy " in gold glitter. I told Big Daddy I wanted to put it in a shadow box to frame, my first macaroni card...

How old?

My little boy will be two years old in a few weeks. (requisite mommy sigh..)

We're working on the whole "how old are you" bit with John. A conversation last week went something to the effect of "John, how old are you doing to be?", with the reply being "twenty-two!!!". Well, he got one digit right!

Yesterday, I again asked "How old are you doing to be John?". This time he replied "twenty minutes".

Twenty minutes.. I like that one!

Super Yummy! (with pics & video)

I thought I'd have to add some pics of Johnny pizza-boy in action.
At our local pizza place lil'daddy calls the owner "joey pizza-man". Lil'daddy announces in the car yesterday morning that he wanted pizza for dinner, so I asked if he wanted to see joey pizza-man. He said, 'no' and when I countered 'but joey pizza-man makes the pizza' lil'daddy says 'NO, John do!' When I asked what he wanted on it he said zucchini and olives. So John did make pizza! - with garlic, oil, zucchini, squash, olives, portabello mushrooms and shredded mozzarella cheese...

toppings...

yummy olives...

Super Yummy!

I came home from work tonight to find my boys making homemade pizza! It was apparently John's idea, he wanted pizza and he wanted "John cook pizza". So Big Daddy picked up some dough from our pizza place and they heaped on olives, zucchini, portabellas and garlic. Super Yummy !!!

PS - I read a restaurant review the other day where the chef was describing his food as "ultra delicious". Super Yummy, ok, but ultra delicious? Where do ppl come up with these things?

PSS - Did anyone see the Zits comic today? Where Jeremy quotes his mom in his one-of-many blogs? I wish I could find a link to post, too funny...
